We are moving The Museum of London is on the move. We want to tell the extraordinary story of London and Londoners in a new museum in West Smithfield, which is itself a deeply fascinating and historic area.

Is entry to the British Museum free?
Entry to the Museum is now ticketed, both for the free, permanent collection and paid exhibitions. All visitors, including Members and volunteers, need to book a timed slot in advance. Only selected galleries will be open.
How do you get to the Museum of London?
Find the entrance The museum’s entrance is located on a pedestrian high walk which can be reached by stairs, escalators or lifts from Aldersgate Street; London Wall or St Martin’s-le-Grand. We welcome and value all visitors to the museum. We prefer those under the age of 11 to be accompanied by a responsible adult.

How long do you need at the British Museum?
Visiting British Museum Recommended visiting time is at least three to four hours, but if you’re interested in joining some of the many different talks and tours at the museum, then be prepared to spend the entire day wandering around.
