28th Annual Science Competitions / Exhibition was inaugurated today on 2nd Nov,2015 at 11:00 am at National Museum of Science & Technology, Lahore by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf, Chairman Pakistan Science Foundation, Islamabad. He visited 200 stalls and appreciated the efforts and work of students.
This exhibition will last till 5th Nov,2015 from 9:00am to 1:00 pm.

27th consecutive Annual Science Competitions 2014 were held in collaboration with Anjuman-Brai-Taleem, Lahore, Pakistan Science Foundation Islamabad and M/s Haier International (pvt.) Ltd, Lahore during October – November, 2014. Three Programs namely “Science Innovation (Models) Competition”, “Science Quiz Competition” and “Essay Writing Competition” were organized on the occasion. More than one thousand students and general public participated / attended these three competitions.
Essay Writing Competition
The essay writing competition was advertised in press on national scale and essays totaling 1057 (102 in Open and 955 in Students Category) were received from Karachi in the south to Peshawar in the North. Public and students were given two separate topics to write on the topic for public was “In your opinion what are the impediments in the Progress of Pakistan” while for students the topics was “If there was no fuel then……!”
Students were divided into three categories:
Science Quiz Competition
Which is held for 9th and 10th class students was very keenly participated. 45-teams from leading educational institutions from all over the province participated. The Society Public School for Girls, Mughalpura, Lahore, Divisional Public School, and Inter College, Sahiwal and Society Public School for Boys, Mughalpura Lahore were adjudged.
1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively in the final round after qualifying from their preliminary rounds. All the participants of the Final round of Science Quiz were given books as token of participation. The final first three positions winner teams were given prizes by the Museum.
Science Innovation Competition
Science Innovation Competition is the most significant competition of all the competitions. Boys and girls from schools, colleges and universities compete in their own categories. This year, 42 institutions with 957 participants participated with their 160 science models. The science innovation (Models) competition was inaugurated on 26th November, 2014. The prize distribution function of all the competition was held on 29th November, 2014 in the Museum.
A jury drawn from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, Urdu Science Board, Lahore and from Colleges of repute judged the models. Prizes to winners were awarded in the prize distribution ceremony on the last day of 4- day exhibition of science models in the science museum.
The annual science competition are the largest national competitions of its kind in the country and needs encouragement by all including corporate sector. This year, Anjuman Barai Taleem, Lahore, Pakistan Science Foundation, Islamabad and M/s Haier International (pvt.) Ltd, Lahore cooperated with the Science Museum by donating funds to make these competitions a success. The staff of National Museum of Science and Technology, Lahore worked day and night to make the arrangements to hold these competitions successfully. Security arrangement was done very well by Punjab Police.
The museum acknowledges with great appreciations the valuable voluntary services by Mr.Jamil Ahmed, research officer, Urdu science board Lahore. Mr.Abdul Majeed Bala, Senior Teacher, Ahmad Hassan Polytechnic Institute, Lahore, Prof.Dr.Tahir Izhar, Electrical Engineering Dept and Dr.Shamaila Shahzadi, Assistant Professor, Physics Department, University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore and Mr.Nauman Yousaf for judging the respective winners of Science Innovation (Models) Competition, 2014.
Special Prize (Shield) was also awarded to the Principal, Beaconhouse School Systems, DHA Lahore for sending maximum number of students to visit the Museum from October, 2013 to November 2014.
During 4 days exhibition, the following activities/programs were arranged from 26th to 29th November, 2014.
National press and Electronic Medias gave a fair coverage to this annual event. Thousands of visitors, majority of them students visited the 4 days Science Innovative (Models) Competition.
